Goal for Today

Okay, I tend to do better if I have publicly committed to something. This is especially true for what I eat. So, here are my goals for today: 1) to do my cross-training tonight (walking and weights, bum workout), 2) to drink at least eight 8-ounce glasses of water, 3) not to eat any "junk" type foods (in other words, foods that would throw me off if I were to enter them in the calorie counter!), and 4) to get to bed by 11:00 p.m. Sadly enough it's the last one that will be hardest for me, although #3 isn't my strong point either. I am terrible at getting to bed at a good hour, and everything I have been reading lately talks about how getting enough rest is as important as diet and exercise when it comes to getting in shape/losing weight/maintaining it. SO...I MUST COMMIT!!! The question is how do I get myself to do it?? I haven't figured this one out yet, but I'm hoping posting this will help. Also, what is going to be our reward for meeting our goals? I'm kinda thinking I need a little monthly reward, a bigger three monthly reward, and something really good for six months. But the short-term ones will need to be free or close to, and for me at least, the long-term one will have to be about the same! However, we wouldn't need to have the same rewards. Also, I don't want one mess-up to blow everything (I'm thinking of FLY lady philosophy here, and how wanting absolute perfection usually leads to absolute failure). So there would have to be some way of counting for sick kids, crazy days, etc. so we don't give up and quit. Anyway, I'm rambling and I have SO much to do today!! PS Speaking of absolutes, I have found one thing that I can only seem to do in absolutes though, and that's eating habits. I can't do "just one" sweet, etc. Either I don't buy it or I eat all of it in one day with the idea that at least then it's no longer around...pathetic, I know. So I guess that is one thing that I just need to be absolute on. The only exception would be when I'm at a restaurant and buy dessert, since they don't let you go back in the kitchen and eat out of the pan until you have a stomach ache... :)
